Keith Boyfield retires after 55 years in the waste management industry

Fleetclear Sales Manager for Scotland, Keith Boyfield has announced his decision to retire following a very successful 55-year long career in the waste equipment and vehicle sector.

Keith commented: “8 years ago I was due to retire and was introduced to Gavin [Thoday] at an event by a mutual colleague. I was a bit concerned about my age as I was 68 yrs old, but Gavin asked me to join the team for a 1-2 year contract and the rest is history!

“I consider myself very lucky. I’ve stayed so long because I’ve been respected and well looked after. The experience has been fantastic and I’m proud to have worked alongside such a talented team of people.  It’s a particularly exciting time in the company’s history with the rebranding, new product development, and a major recruitment drive. I’d thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking to further their career in this sector.”

Gavin Thoday, CEO, Fleetclear: “Keith is one of the ‘true gents’ from the industry and I knew he’d be a perfect cultural fit for our team and the company we are building. We were not ready to let him hang up his coat fully and even now this isn’t truly goodbye as Keith will still be proudly wearing the Fleetclear logo on the odd occasion when we need to draw on his wealth of experience.”

Keith, who was born in Lincolnshire and lives in Grantham began his career working for an agricultural machinery company before changing to the earthmoving and construction machinery sector. He spent 14 years working as an Export Sales Director, travelling regularly to Spain, Italy and Portugal, before moving to the municipal vehicle business in his 40’s, working for big names such as Norba (now Geesinknorba) and Go Plant before becoming Sales Manager for Turin-based Farid where he stayed for over 20 years.

One of Keith’s major career highlights is converting over half of the authorities in Scotland to switch to Fleetclear (previously ISS) products within the first 12 months of joining the company. That figure has continued to grow and it is now nearer to 70% of Scottish authorities who use Fleetclear products.

Stephen Perrin, Fleetclear Business Development Manager will be managing Keith’s patch in future:

“Keith is highly thought of in the industry and will be very much missed by his customers. I will do my very best to deliver the same level of customer service and professionalism.  On a personal level I will miss working with Keith and wish him a superb retirement.”

Founded over a decade ago as Innovative Safety Systems Ltd (ISS) and recently rebranded to Fleetclear, the company has evolved from a market leading vehicle safety and technology manufacturer into a complete fleet solution provider with an end-to-end solution for all fleet operators.

Fleetclear installs solutions to over 60% of local authorities in the UK and is responsible for innovative commercial vehicle safety solutions including the Cyclear cyclist safety warning device, anti-rollaway and driver ID technology, superior camera recording systems and reverse radar.
