ABM UK deploys all-electric utility vehicles at Olympia from Bradshaw Electric Vehicles

ABM UK, one of the world’s leading providers of integrated facility, engineering, and maintenance solutions, has recently acquired two all-electric utility vehicles which are set to be deployed at the transformed Olympia estate.

With a history spanning 140 years since it first opened in 1886, Olympia has hosted countless exhibitions, performances, and cultural events, establishing itself as a longstanding hub for events, entertainment and commerce in the capital.

Today, the landmark is undergoing a transformative £1.3bn redevelopment that will reposition the estate as London’s newest destination for entertainment, culture, hospitality and business.

When complete, Olympia will feature a 3,800-capacity live music venue, London’s largest purpose-built theatre in 50 years, a new 14-storey building that will be home to state-of-the-art office space and an international convention centre, a host of new bars and restaurants, two hotels, a new school and a gym.

The wider regeneration also includes significant public realm improvements, with new pedestrianised public spaces for all visitors to enjoy.

ABM UK has been awarded the cleaning, janitorial, landscape and waste management contract across the entire estate, as it goes through the final stages of its redevelopment and future operational phase of the site. The contract covers a complex, 24/7 operation as Olympia transitions into a multi-use destination combining food, events, leisure, hospitality, and commercial space.

As part of this operation, ABM UK will deploy two new all-electric Goupil G4 electric utility vehicles supplied by Bradshaw Electric Vehicles. The vehicles were selected following close consultation with Olympia, who detailed a clear requirement for low-emission, low-noise solutions to be deployed at the estate.

One of the Goupil G4 vehicles is configured with a cage body and trailer, designed to support the transfer of waste materials from individual buildings to a central consolidation point across the estate.

The second Goupil G4 is fitted with a utility cage and integrated pressure washer system, enabling it to support specialist cleaning operations, including window cleaning and general site maintenance.

The two vehicles will be operated by separate ABM teams – one focused on back-of-house waste management and the other dedicated to specialist cleaning services. Given the scale and intensity of operations across the site, both vehicles will play a critical role in maintaining continuous, 24-hour service delivery.

In addition to their core functions, the Goupil G4s will also be used as multi-purpose maintenance vehicles across Olympia, supporting in additional tasks such as landscaping, internal logistics, and general estate management operations. Their flexibility is expected to be key in managing the evolving needs of the redevelopment and to ensure its upkeep.

One vehicle features a lithium battery configuration, while the second operates on a lead-acid system, providing operational versatility across different duty cycles within the estate.

Commenting on the deployment, Matheus Pavan, Strategic Account Manager at ABM UK said: “The redevelopment of Olympia represents one of the most ambitious regeneration projects in London to date, and as such, our waste management operation needs to be just as forward-thinking. When we came across Bradshaw and the Goupil G4s they immediately ticked all our boxes and gave the confidence that the waste needs of the estate – which are significant – would be catered for.

“The vehicles being low noise, all electric and low speed were also key considerations for their adoption, particularly given the nature of the site and the requirements set out within the planning conditions for the redevelopment.

“Now that the Goupil vehicles are in place, we have a solution that delivers the flexibility and reliability needed to operate effectively within what will be an expansive and demanding environment – giving us the capability and confidence to provide an efficient, responsive service that helps keep the estate running smoothly around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Ramsy Labassi, Marketing Manager at Bradshaw Electric Vehicles, added: “Olympia’s transformation is a landmark project, and we’re delighted that the Goupil G4 has been selected to support ABM UK’s operations across the estate. Their deployment demonstrates how compact electric utility vehicles can deliver the versatility, reliability and low-noise performance required within complex, high-footfall environments.

“The Goupil G4’s adaptability makes it particularly well suited to the varied demands of a busy, mixed-use destination such as Olympia. Whether supporting waste management requirements, specialist cleaning, landscaping or general maintenance tasks, the Goupil vehicles will provide ABM UK’s teams with a practical and efficient solution for keeping the estate clean, well maintained and operating smoothly all year round.”
