Murphy Plant boosts fleet with new Volkswagen Crafters fitted with specialised racking conversion

Murphy Plant is bolstering its fleet with 134 Volkswagen Crafters, bringing its total fleet to over 1,000 vans. Each Volkswagen Crafter will feature bespoke conversions including new racking systems. The vans will all be supplied by Alan Day Volkswagen Van Centre.

Murphy Plant is one of the leading suppliers of plant, transport and equipment in the UK, providing a broad range of equipment including specialist assets for ground engineering, pipeline testing, tunneling, rail and more. The Volkswagen Crafters will be added to Murphy’s extensive fleet of vehicles which are used to transport equipment across the UK.

The new vans will all be fitted with bespoke conversions including specialist racking systems specifically designed for the projects to help safely store and transport equipment up and down the country. All conversions have been done by Bott Ltd.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was chosen by Murphy Plant because it offers the most comprehensive package, whilst delivering fuel economy and an exceptional aftersales service with extended opening hours.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles rolled out extended opening hours across its network of Van Centres in 2017 as part of its Working With You brand promise. The service not only accommodates changes in businesses’ working hours and gives customers greater choice and flexibility, but also helps minimise the impact of costly downtime.

Tony Murphy, Fleet Manager from the Murphy Group, commented: “We invest heavily in our fleets to ensure we can provide the best customer service as efficiently as possible so it was crucial for us to choose a competent and reliable van partner to help bolster our fleet.

“The complete package offered by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles including its excellent Crafter vans, range of conversions and extensive aftersales options meant this was an easy choice for us.”

Claire English, Head of Fleet for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Murphy Plant to supply a fleet of Crafter vans. We have worked extensively with the customer to ensure the vans are designed exactly to their needs and feature a completely bespoke body paint and livery to fit with their corporate branding. We look forward to continuing to work with Murphy Plant in the future.”
