Octopus Electric Vehicles selects FMG for EV incident management

FMG has been awarded a new contract to support Octopus Electric Vehicles in providing effortless EV solutions for its newly launched Salary Sacrifice scheme, Electric Dreams. The incident management experts will provide 24/7 driver care and an end-to-end incident management solution to Octopus drivers.

Through Electric Dreams, drivers can save 30-60% off their monthly car costs on salary sacrifice, with Octopus’s first clients saving over £10,000 over a 3-year term, while also feeling good about doing right by the planet. Octopus has designed the scheme to be simple and zero-cost for an employer to set up, with brands like Huel and Purplebricks already making the benefit available to their staff.

Natalia Peralta Silverstone, Head of Propositions at Octopus Electric Vehicles, said: “Businesses and employees across the UK are searching for ways to do their bit for the environment. This scheme, along with the low Benefit-in-kind (BiK) tax rates, make electric cars an attractive option. By partnering with FMG, we can ensure a truly seamless and personal service for our customers when incidents occur.”

Andrew Chandler, Sales Director at FMG said, “It’s a privilege to be chosen to partner with such a forward-thinking company and we are delighted to be in a strong position to support this transformation of the automotive sector. As many fleets find that their medium to long term EV-adoption plans have accelerated overnight, we have taken proactive steps to prepare for the incidental effect on vehicle repair. In recent years we have invested time, resource and expertise in EV manufacturer and bodyshop repairer relationships and supported our network’s transition to BS10125, the industry’s most credible quality standard in vehicle repair.”

Official government figures released by the Department for Transport in March 2021 show that nearly 11% of new cars sold in 2020 had a plug, compared with just over 3% in 2019. FMG is fully prepared for further dramatic volume increases, with over 300 of FMG’s repairers having the full capability – machinery, tools, training and skill – to carry out high quality EV repair.

Andrew continued, “The impact of the last 12 months on the automotive sector has been staggering and as more drivers switch to greener ways to get around, we are proud to play our part in protecting the future of high-quality modern vehicle repair.”
