A webinar from the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) will focus on how work experience can be used to attract young people into the sector.
Held at 3.00pm on Monday 23rd March, it will feature input from Ronnie Gillman, AFP training manager; Judy O’Keefe, fleet director at Openreach; and Ian Cooper, head of business development at Futures for All, a social mobility charity that helps young people from state schools and colleges access real-world experiences.
Matt Hammond, AFP vice chair, said: “It is vital we attract new blood into the fleet sector and for some time, we’ve been working on ways to reach young people in order to raise awareness of a career in the industry and the great opportunities it brings. This has included visiting schools and continuing the process to create an apprenticeship standard for the sector.
“Work experience is a key element of this outreach and many AFP members tell us they would like to open up their doors but need advice on how to connect with schools and ensure the at-work time they offer is appealing and rewarding for those taking part. These are key questions we’ll be answering in this webinar.”
The session will explain why work experience in fleet matters now more than ever, simple steps to get involved whether you’re a large operator or a small team, how Futures for All can support businesses through the process, and the role of AFP members in collectively raising the profile and appeal of fleet careers.
