New waste trucks join Enfield Council

New waste trucks have joined Enfield Council to provide a dedicated food waste collections service. The new waste service has already started with full roll-out taking place in February 2020. The service will provide free weekly food recycling, an optional paid for garden waste service and alternative weekly collection service of rubbish and recycling.

Enfield Council says they have had to make changes to their services because in 2019/20 they must make savings of £18 million and a further £12 million the following year. This means that along with other local authorities, Enfield Council are having to make difficult decisions about the future of many council services. They have also declared a climate emergency and are taking steps to make changes to its services and operations that will help in their efforts for a more sustainable future for the Borough of Enfield.

A number of partners and operators were been involved in the procurement process for the new vehicles which include – CPD, Harris DAF, Visiontrack and Peoplepanels.
